Reasons To Watch:
Well, first off, there is going to be some super exciting fights and some very important fights, there will be fights that determine who is the number 1 contender, and fights that will determine if a couple of fighters are washed up or not, so, let's get this underway!
Kelvin Gastelum vs. Rick Story
This fight is going to be brilliant in my eyes, Kelvin Gastelum upset all the odds to win TUF 17, he then submitted Brian Melancon, in his performance against Melancon he showed great hands and brute power. Both of these guys are of a similar build, but in my opinion it is the wrestling and striking and how he puts it together that will win Gastelum this fight.
Prediction: Kelvin Gastelum via Unanimous Decision.
Ovince St Preux vs. Nikita Krylov
In my opinion this fight is being looked past, not a lot of fans know either of these guys, but the ones that are looking past this will get a shock on Saturday night. Nikita Krylov has a karate style, much like Lyoto Machida's, he delivers hard kicks and has amazing leg dexterity. St Preux does stand a chance on his feet though, he has power of his own, he is more of a puncher. Both guys have good chins and this fight is going to be, in my opinion, a slugfest until someone gets caught with a clean shot and goes out cold, and in my opinion, the person going out cold will be Ovince St Preux.
Prediction: Nikita Krylov via KO; Round 3.
Jake Shields vs. Hector Lombard
This fight could be an exciting fight, and it could also be a terribly boring fight. If Jake Shields manages to take Lombard down, it is going to be an extremely hard job to get Shields off. But if Lombard catches Shields with a hard shot, this fight could be over in an instant. I think Lombard will have worked hard on his take down defense and I think early in the fight, Shields won't be able to take Lombard down, but as the fight goes on I see Lombard gassing and not being able to stop anything Shields does.
Prediction: Jake Shields via Unanimous Decision.
Diego Sanchez vs. Myles Jury
This is an important fight for Diego Sanchez, he's known for getting into brutal wars, but most of the time, he loses them, I think he will have devised a smart game plan for this fight though. I think Sanchez will come out and hit Jury harder than he's been hit before, and I think he will overwhelm Jury until Myles "Fury" Jury can't take anymore.
Prediction: Diego Sanchez via TKO; Round 2.
Carlos Condit vs. Tyron Woodley
Plain and simple, this is going to be a war... Unless Tyron Woodley decides to use his wrestling to lay on Condit for 15 minutes, however, that is easier said that done, Condit is a high level ground game fighter and will always be threatening Woodley with submissions from the bottom if he does end up there. I think Condit knows what is at stake here (#1 Contenders spot) and will play if safe, I think he will keep his range for the first round, then start to land combo's and kicks in the second, and when Woodley is completely gassed in the third round, I think Condit will go in for the kill, and when he goes in for the kill he kills.
Prediction: Carlos Condit via TKO; Round 3.
UFC Welterweight Championship
Johny Hendricks vs. Robbie Lawler
This fight is going to be crazy, both guys are hungry for the title and they will both battle it out with all there hearts and I can guarantee nobody will give up easily. Both guys have huge power in their hands and can knock almost anybody out. In the striking aspect, it seems a pretty close fight, but when it comes to wrestling, Johny Hendricks is a much more accomplished athlete, I think this fight will stay on the feet though, the only time I can see Johny taking this fight to the ground is if he has been hurt or rocked by Lawler, or he is just tired, other than that, I think this will be a standup war, and I think one thing will separate these two fighters, I think Johny Hendricks' cardio will play a huge factor in this, I think he will set a high pace and this is because in my opinion, he has a bigger gas tank that Robbie Lawler does. Although Hendricks is the favourite to win, you can never count the veteran Lawler out, he proved that when he overcame the odds to beat Rory MacDonald at UFC 167, Hendricks cardio though, is too much of a challenge for Lawler in my opinion, but once again, do not count Lawler out.
Prediction: Johny Hendricks via Unanimous Decision.
That's all for now Junior Fight Fans, I hope you enjoy this post and if you agree, disagree or would just like to add something, please comment.
