UFC 173 Live Round-By-Round Coverage

If you haven't bought the UFC 173 PPV or simply can't watch it for whatever reason, tune in to MMAjr because we will have results for the fight pass prelims, scoring and results for the televised prelims and full round-by-round coverage for the Main Card where in the Main Event, Renan Barao defends his Bantamweight strap against Team Alpha Male member TJ Dillashaw.

Main Card

Jamie Varner vs. James Krause.
Round 1: We are underway for the main card and the two fighters touch gloves. Krause has a significant reach advantage, that may play a big part. Two hard leg kicks by Krause. Krause really attacking with the leg kicks. Front kick to the face lands for Krause, Varner is in real trouble. Krause on top, it appears that Jamie Varner's leg is injured. Krause. Jamies foot or ankle is hurt, his left foot is in huge trouble. Big take-down by Krause. Krause reverses and is on top. Half guard for Krause, he looks for the guillotine but it is countered and Varner is now on top. Krause is cut. They swing! It looks like Jamie Varner has broken his ankle, his foot is just dangling around. The sight of Jamie Varner's ankle is nasty. It may be his foot that is broken, this is nasty. The doctors need to stop this during rounds if his corner do not. Round 1: James Krause 10/9. THE FIGHT HAS BEEN STOPPED, JAMIE VARNER SAYS HE CAN NOT CONTINUE, HE SAYS THAT HE HAS BROKEN HIS ANKLE.

Takeya Mizugaki vs. Francisco Rivera.
Round 1: The fighters touch gloves and Mizugaki takes the center of the octagon. Nice shot early by Rivera. Mizugaki shoots but it is stuffed. Both guys being patient here. They start to swing and Rivera lands. WOAH! MIZUGAKI CAUGHT RIVERA AND HE DROPS HIM! TAKEYA MIZUGAKI IS ON TOP OF RIVERA TRYING TO FINISH THIS FIGHT. Rivera survives but Mizugaki is in half guard. They are back up, they clinch against the fence. Mizugaki looking for the trip against the cage, can't get it. Mizugaki lands a nice knee but he is taken down, good work by Mizugaki and he is right back up. They break and Mizugaki lands a big right. Big left kick by Rivera, he ducks under and clinches, he is trying to take this fight to the ground. Nice trip by Rivera and he is on top! Round 1: Takeya Mizugaki 10/9. 

Round 2: They touch again ahead of round 2, Rivera looks like he has recovered, he lands a leg kick. They swing but nothing big lands. Both guys are leading with their head, they need to be careful. Rivera fakes low and goes high, lands a kick. Rivera landing hard shots and Mizugaki is cut under his left eye. They trade and Mizugaki ducks under a right, take-down by Mizugaki but Rivera is back up. Rivera drops for a guillotine, he is trying to stop Takeya Mizugaki with a guillotine. It's not tight and Mizugaki it out. Mizugaki back on top, in the guard of Francisco Rivera. Half guard for Mizugaki and he takes the back. Rivera may be in trouble, Mizugaki has one arm across the face. If Mizugaki gets his right arm out he could submit Rivera with a face crank. He has his hand out, Mizugaki may get the face crank, he can't get his arm under the chin. Round 2: Takeya Mizugaki 10/9. 

Round 3: They touch once again and Mizugaki takes the center of the Octagon. Nice left by Rivera and Mizugaki pushes fo rward, he can't land anything. Mizugaki ducking a lot, he needs to be wary of the uppercut of Francisco Rivera. Huge shot drops Rivera! He doesn't seem to be hurt badly but he is on the bottom and is clearly down on the scorecards. Rivera shrimping trying to get out but Mizugaki isn't letting him. Joe Rogan said "This isn't Rivera, get up, he knows how to get up, he knows how to stand up" Yves Lavigne stands them up and they trade. WOAH! They swing to the bell! Round 3: Takeya Mizugaki 10/9.

Robbie Lawler vs. Jake Ellenberger.
Round 1: I am pumped for this fight! We are underway! Jake's hands look very quick. Head kick by Lawler is blocked, and again! Hard body kick! Head kick just misses for Robbie. Nice left uppercut by Lawler backs Ellenberger up. Head kick lands for Robbie but only the toes hit. Nice right by Jake. Swing and a miss for Ellenberger. Lawler with another head kick. Big right by Robbie stuns Jake. Right lands for Jake but Robbie fires back with a left. Head kick again by Lawler. Round 1: Robbie Lawler 10/9. 

Round 2: Nice shots by both men straight away. Huge shots by Robbie and Jake was stunned. Ellenberger looks for the take-down but it is stuffed well by Lawler. Ellenberger does not look comfortable in the cage with Robbie Lawler. Jake takes Robbie's back, he is trying to trip him, Lawler breaks the grip. Nice left by Robbie and he is stalking Ellenberger. Ellenberger isn't moving his head and is getting caught. Nice 1-2 by Robbie. Ellenberger has the take down, Robbie Lawler is laughing, he turns it around and he is back up. Lawler spins to the back and he is landing. Ellenberger looks tired. Ellenberger winging shots! Ellenberger catches Robbie off guard and gets the double leg take-down. Fantastic work by Robbie and he is up, knee's by Robbie in the clinch. Round 2: Robbie Lawler 10/9. 

Round 3: Ellenberger eats a knee to the body early. They trade. Robbie is hurt! Ellenberger can't get the take-down. It looks like Jake has hurt his right hand. No power in the right hand for Jake and he needs the knockout here. Body kick by Ellenberger now. Nice right but Robbie counters and lands a hard combo. Nice left backs up Ellenberger. Jab lands in the eye. Huge knee! IT IS ALL OVER!!! ROBBIE LAWLER STOPS JAKE ELLENBERGER IN THE THIRD ROUND, WHAT A PERFORMANCE.

Co-Main Event

Daniel Cormier vs. Dan Henderson.
Round 1: Here we go! Head kick is thrown by Cormier. Body shot by Hendo. Big slam by Daniel Cormier! I've never seen Hendo slammed like that. Cormier is on top but both of his arms are trapped. Henderson is looking for a armbar, who expected that? Henderson looking for a sweep. DC looking for the crucifix, he didn't get it. Cormier looking for a kimura but he loses it. Cormier looking for the mount and he almost had it. Cormier mounts him, Henderson may be in trouble, he does well to get back to half guard. Up kick lands for Dan. Cormier showing superior strength and he is back into side control. Cormier again looking for the submission. They stand back up. They both look fresh. Overhand right by DC! He follows up with a kick. Henderson almost landed a take-down of his own. Round 1: Daniel Cormier 10/9. 

Round 2: Jab lands for Hendo. He comes forward but nothing lands. Cormier lands another take-down and is straight into side control, he almost had the Americana. Big elbow by DC but he isn't punishing Hendo much. DC lands some big shots and Henderson still cannot get up. DC looking for an arm lock again but Hendo spins out. Henderson can't mount any offence. Good shots here on top from Cormier. DC looking for the mounted crucifix again but good defence by Hendo again. Hard left hands from DC, Dan rolls but Cormier gets right back into side control. Hard shots by Cormier, another dominating round. Round 2: Daniel Cormier 10/8. 

Round 3: Dan Henderson looks wrecked in his corner, can't catch his breath. They touch gloves at the start of the third round and Cormier pushes Hendo back. Right just missed for DC. HUGE SLAM AGAIN BY DC AND HENDO IS IN HUGE TROUBLE!! DC picked him up over his head and smashed him into the canvas, this is a brutal sight. DC mounts Cormier again and he may finish this fight here. Hendo gives up his back, DC only has one hook in. Huge shots and Hendo looks as if he has given up, he is exhausted and is being smothered. DC looking for the finish, Hendo is up but is back down. Cormier can finish this fight. He has the rear naked choke! DAN HENDERSON IN TROUBLE! IT IS ALL OVER!! DANIEL CORMIER CHOKES DAN HENDERSON UNCONSCIOUS. NOT THE BEST PERFORMANCE BUT HE GOT THE FINISH.

Main Event

Renan Bãrao vs. TJ Dillashaw.
Round 1: We are underway! They touch gloves. Leg kick by Dillashaw. TJ very light on his feet. Another leg kick lands. Barao misses with a kick. Head kick clips Barao! Crane kick thrown by Dillashaw. Right misses by TJ. Leg kick once again by TJ. Uppercut lands hard for TJ! Renan's kick is blocked. Big shots landing early for TJ. Right for Barao counters the leg kick. Hard leg kick once again, TJ landing a lot of them. Wow, TJ doing really well. Head kick blocked by Barao. Leg kick from both men. TJ pushing forward! HUGE RIGHT HAND LANDS FOR DILLASHAW AND RENAN IN TROUBLE!!!!! TJ DILLASHAW LOOKING TO STOP RENAN BARAO! HUGE SHOTS BY DILALASHAW. TJ HAS THE BACK!!! HE IS LOOKING FOR THE CHOKE. BARAO SURVIVES!!! Round 1: TJ Dillashaw 10/8. 

Round 2: They touch gloves and Renan throws an early kick. Renan throwing a lot of front kicks. They trade. TJ needs to be careful, he is coming forward. TJ is cut above the right eye. TJ throws that right hand again by it misses. Barao misses with a leg kick and TJ throws a combo. Hard inside leg kick by TJ. Head kick by TJ blocked. Body shots by TJ Dillashaw now! They swing again. TJ looking for the take-down, the can't get it. Leg kick goes low and the ref gives TJ a few moments to recover. We are off again and they touch gloves. Nice straight right for Barao. Big right hand by TJ and Barao is stunned again. TJ misses with a right hook. Body kick lands for TJ. Big shots lands for both men. Dillashaw lands a stiff body kick. Head kick by TJ!!! Barao getting caught! Round 2: TJ Dillashaw 10/9. 

Round 3: TJ moving around a lot. Leg kick by TJ. Head kick lands for TJ, doesn't affect Barao. Big right again by TJ. Dillashaw moves out of the way of a Renan Barao high kick. Kick by Barao. TJ changing stances very frequently. Big left and a head kick and Barao is in trouble. Right hook stuns Barao again! TJ lighting Barao up. Excellent defense as well by TJ in this fight. Hard jab snaps Barao's head back. TJ landing hard shots. Huge head kick lands once again by Dillashaw. TJ looks like the champion here. Big left and Barao is getting caught with everything. TJ needs to stay calm and not get carried away. TJ has Barao against the cage looking for the take-down, another dominant round here! Round 3: TJ Dillashaw 10/9. 

Round 4: Barao ate some big shots in that round and that will take an effect on him. They touch and TJ goes for another take-down, stuffed. Huge left head kick lands once again by TJ!! Body kick and a leg kick! TJ in and out. Huge body kick hurts Barao. HUGE LEFT STUNS BARAO WHO IS IN SURVIVAL MODE!! Barao is exhausted Big right hook, and again by TJ. TJ still needs to be wary of Barao's power. Big left stuns Barao who is being outclassed. They clinch against the fence and Dillashaw lands a nice elbow, now nice punches. Knee to the body by Barao. They both lands knees to the body. TJ smiling in the face of Barao and he lands a nice right, TJ on top! Huge wlbows by TJ and Renan doesn't like this. TJ looking for a guillotine. Renan looking for the leg lock but TJ spins out and jumps back on top. TJ has to be extremely careful on top here. TJ Dillashaw came in with the right game plan and has kicked Renan Barao's face in. Round 4: TJ Dillashaw 10/9. 

Round 5: Faber in the crows celebrating! We start the final round! Hard kick by Barao. Leg kick lands for TJ. Hard left by Barao, it doesn't seem to faze TJ. TJ lands a hard body kick, he seems to be waiting to counter Barao, and its working, he lands a head kick. TJ starting to frustrate Barao and he lands a nice right hook and jab! Left lands for TJ and he ladns a jab. HUGE HEAD KICK BY TJ AND A HUGE LEFT HAND AND IT IS ALL OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE!!! TJ DILLASHAW STOPS RENAN BARAO WITH PUNCHES IN THE LAST ROUND AND DUANE LUDWIG AND TEAM ALPHA MALE AND TJ DILLASHAW HAS FINALLY WON A TITLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Post Fight Interviews: 

Dillashaw: "I've dreamed this for so long, its the most amazing feeling; Yeah, I was surprised with this, he's the best in the world; I owe it to my team and my coaches; I was still trying to finish because that's who I am, I do it in the gym every day."

Barao: "It was a tough fight, congratulations to TJ but I'm coming back.
