Late Monday night it was officially announced on Twitter by UFC President Dana White that Hector Lombard is out of his fight with Dong Hyun Kim at UFC Fight Night 48. Top-ranked welterweight Tyron Woodley has stepped up to take Lombard's place.
UFC Fight Night 48 is taking place in Macau, China on August 23rd at the Cotai Arena. The main event is Michael Bisping vs. Cung Le in a 5-round middleweight bout.
The only other bout announced for this card is Woodley vs. Kim in the co-main event.
Woodley is coming off a unanimous decision defeat over #2 ranked welterweight Rory MacDonald at UFC 174 on June 14th. A win over Kim will likely put him back in the title picture, as he could not get closer to a title shot against champion Johny Hendricks when he faced MacDonald.
There hasn't been any other information regarding Lombard's injury yet, but we will keep you updated on this as we get the information.
