Will Rory MacDonald be a champion?

The Vancouver native Rory MacDonald is coming off of a lopsided decision victory over Tyron Woodley on June 14th at UFC 174 in his hometown.  He dominated Woodley all 3 rounds and it ended with all 3 judges giving MacDonald all 3 rounds.

MacDonald, who has trained with former UFC champion Georges St-Pierre, is coming off one of his best performances of his career.  The big question is: Is he the next St-Pierre and will he become a champion one day? 

I think there's a very good chance of him getting the strap around his waist in the future.  MacDonald is only 24 years old and has faced the top competition at welterweight.  He is just a little older when Jon Jones beat Shogun Rua for the light heavyweight title.  At 24 years of age, he will keep on getting better as he hasn't even quite entered his prime yet.

Now that St-Pierre is semi-retired for now, it's the GSP protégée's time to shine.  I believe he will become the champion.  He's #2 in the division at 24 years old - that explains something.
