Mark Munoz vs. Gegard Mousasi head-to-toe breakdown.

UFC Fight Night 41 goes down tomorrow night and is headlined by a middleweight fight between MMA veteran Gegard Mousasi and UFC mainstay Mark Munoz. Both of these men are coming off losses to Lyoto Machida. Munoz was knocked out in the first round by Machida but Mousasi stuck in there and lost a Unanimous Decision.

Striking
Mark Munoz has some serious power in his hands but he lacks technique, he isn't known for knocking people out standing and if one of these guys is going to get caught, its more likely going to be him. Mousasi has a lot of power in his hands and is a more diverse striker, I think Mousasi has the heavier hands and the better chin, so in my opinion there is only one way this fight can go if it stays on the feet, and that is with Munoz getting knocked unconscious by a vicious Gegard Mousasi right hand. Advantage: Gegard Mousasi.

If you know MMA well enough you should know that Mark Munoz's chin is not one you'd like to rely on, there's been moments where he's took huge shots and carried on, there has also been a few moments where he gets hit with something that gets a "ah, nothing" from the crowd and he wobbles, what is going on with his chin? You should also know that Gegard Mousasi has a granite chin and can take anything from elbows to kicks. As I mentioned earlier, both of these men are coming off losses to Lyoto Machida. In Gegard's fight with Lyoto he absorbed a lot of punishment and took two solid head kicks without even flinching, Munoz took one on the glove and he was done, this one was easy. Advantage: Gegard Mousasi.

Wrestling
A lot of people are counting out Gegard Mousasi's wrestling here, lets hope Mark Munoz isn't. Mousasi has legit take-down defense and sometimes even goes in for a take-down of his own. Although he does have pretty decent defense, it will be a tough ask for him to stop Mark Munoz's take-downs. Munoz is big, stocky and strong and flies in to most take-downs with a lot of speed. Munoz is a great wrestler and is absolutely vicious when he gets his opponents on their back. He utilizes crazy 'donkey kong' punches to cause his opponents a lot of trouble and he will do the same to Gegard Mousasi if he winds up on top. Advantage: Mark Munoz.
