EA Sports UFC Demo Review

Earlier this week EA Sports released the demo for EA Sports UFC, the demo was released exclusively on Playstation 4 and Xbox One. In the demo you can play as light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson. Since the demo has been released, the team at EA Sports have received so much praise from so many fans, now it's my turn, I'm here to give you my opinion on the demo!

Graphics
The graphics on this demo are brilliant. Both of the fighters have very realistic features, the cage looks perfect and so does the octagon mat. The mat situation may not mean a lot to other people but for me to enjoy a video game I need everything to be on point, and in past UFC games, the mat has been faded or just didn't look correct. Another great thing about this game is that the cut bleeds like a real cut, the blood goes all over the cut fighter and his opponent. The cut's are also in a number of places, where in past UFC games, their was only a couple of places that you could actually get cut. Rating: 8.5/10.

Striking
Overall the striking on this demo is pretty good, but there are some problems. Jon Jones is a very athletic fighter and throws some unorthodox kicks, and some of the unorthodox kicks have been included in the demo. Alexander Gustafsson, on the other hand, doesn't throw many kicks at all, and in this demo, he throws some crazy kicks. Also, a lot of the time, the game is unresponsive. You try to throw a kick or a punch and it doesn't respond, then you're just left standing there with no guard. Rating: 6.5/10.

Grappling
This is not submissions or wrestling, its both. Let me start with wrestling. The wrestling on this is okay. The take-down's are easier to secure than they have been in past UFC games, but it is insanely hard to stay on top. To stay on top you have to be smashing your opponents face in or passing a lot. The take-down's on this game are somewhat unrealistic, its almost as if it goes to a cut-scene when the take-down is secured. Especially the slams that you can perform. You secure the slam, it goes to a type of cut-scene, walks across the cage a little and smashes your opponent down. Wrestling Rating: 6/10. Now to submissions. Not a lot of people have warmed to the new submission game because it is too complicated, and I agree that it is very complicated, but overall I like the submission game. I like the way you can't catch your opponent in any submission from any position, I like the way when you try for a submission it isn't already locked in and your opponent has to fight out, I like the way the is so many stages to submissions, even though it is extremely hard. Submissions Rating: 8/10.

Cuts
The cuts/blood haven't been great in any UFC game, and last time in UFC Undisputed 3, it was worse than ever. The cuts looked so unrealistic and the blood on the canvas looked like a dog had stood in red paint and walked it across the canvas. EA Sports UFC is different, though. The cuts on this are very realistic and the blood is better than ever. The blood leaks all over the fighters body and their opponents body and the cuts look very realistic. Another thing that I think is very realistic is where the blood goes. In past UFC games, the blood has been restricted to one or two places, not EA Sports UFC, though, the blood flows freely and actually flows like a real cut. Rating: 9/10.
